I hope everyone has a safe and fun trick or treat night! We don't have any little kids anymore so we just get to hand out candy..I miss those days!

 

In honor of Halloween today, I wanted to share two card with you that I taught at my last DistINKtive Cards class at Scrapp'n Savvy. The first card uses the new Karen Burniston Door, Opening &Wreath die. I love this die! I orginally bought it thinking of a Christmas door, but then thought a trick or treat door would be so much fun. This die is so versatile- you could do any holiday, birthday, get well, new home, special delivery..and on and on.  For my card I also added the branch from the Tim Holtz Holly Branch die with some tiny maple leaf punches. I stamped a pumpkin and cut it out and added it to the front. Inside the door it says trick or treat. I love the way it turned out.

 

 

 

 

My last card is one that I have seen many similar versions of all over the web. The mummy card is fun and easy to make. Just tare strips of white cardstock in different angles, Ink with brown ink, the grungier the better! Add the black strip and then layer the white strips. Add the squiggly eyes, BOO! and the little spider stamp and you are all done. So cute and fun to make!

I'd like to share a couple of the cards I taught in my DistINKtive card class at Scrapp'n Savvy last month. We usually do 4 cards using different techniques. We have come to really love the Copic Marker on Glitter Ritz technique using Elizabeth Craft Designs outline stickers. The pumpkin card is a great example of that. Its so much fun to color on the highlight glitter ritz. It takes very little ink and produces a wow effect every time!

We also did a fun card using tags. I was inspired by the design of this card and really wanted to do a smiliar one. I redid it using Bazzill Avalon Pattern Paper. Isn't it cute! You could change the theme up for almost any occasion.

Mandeville LA Scrapfest! Here I come!

 

 This weekend I will be teaching at Scrapfest in Madeville, Louisana! I teach every month at Scrapp'n Savvy but this will be my first time teaching at a scrapbooking convention so I am extra excited and a little nervous. I'll be teaching these four cards. We will be learning to work with all kind of fun products like Copics on Glitter Rtiz with Elizabeth Craft Designs outline stickers, distress ink techniques, working with Send It Clear cards and the new Sizzix/ Hero Arts Stamp and Diecuts set. Its a lot packed into two hours but it will be tons of fun! I'm teaching along with Karrie, Karen and Melissa from Scrapp'n Savvy. They are all extremely talented wonderful ladies and I look forward to spending time getting to know them better. Wish me luck and if you happen to be near Mandeville- come to my class!

Purple Flowers

Today I am sharing a card I made using Sizzix/ Hero Arts stamp and die set called Garden Flower. It has really cheery flowers and a little bee and lady bug. Each set comes with stamps and coordinating dies. I really loved using it- they are fast and easy and make for a professionallooking fun card!  The cardstock is Bazzill as well as the pattern paper. The images were colored with copics. It's hard to tell but there is stickles in the center of both flowers and on the bees wings. Had to  have some sparkle!

Finally..I'm back with a new card!

It's been quite a while since I have been able to update my blog and I apologize to any who might have been checking... I have chronic health issues that I have been dealing with consequently keeping me from creating and posting but things are much better now and I have been busy in my craft room. It feels so good too! I'm just not right when I don't have a creative outlet- know what I mean? :-)

I've been working on card kits to sell at Scrapp'n Savvy. Here are a couple of the designs. The first one is a birthday card made with a cute cake stamp I found in the dollar bin at Michael's. The papers are Bazzill- so bright and cheery! I'm loving their new pattern papers.

The second card pays homage to my Texas roots- the boot stamp is one from The Angel Company. It's colored with Copics.

I've got a couple more I will share with you tomorrow.

Sparkle, Glimmer and Shine!

 Sorry it's been a few weeks since I posted. I have been teaching and have been swamped with preparations for my two monthly classes at Scrapp'n Savvy. I wanted to share some of the cards we did in those classes. The first card uses Elizabeth Craft designs peel offs and Glitter Ritz colored with Copic Markers. This technique is a favorite with my students. We love the sparkle! The cage is a Tim Holtz sizzix die, the stickers are from Elizabeth crafts as well. The background is Bazzill bling cardstock embossed with a cuttle bug folder. Sorry I don't have the names of everything- if you want to know something specific leave me a message..

The next card is one using a Lilly of the Valley stamp. She is colored with Copics. We were practicing blending two colors together with the feather blending technique. The shiney embossed strip is Elizabeth Crafts Shimmer Sheetz- such a fun product!

The last card we did was a new technique I found on this blog called Glimmer Copics. There is a great tutorial there and I had the same Tim Holtz stamps for the embossed images in the background used in the tutorial so the card came out very similar. The technique is time comsuming but not hard and the results are beautiful! Bascially, you emboss your images with clear embossing ink, stamp on the background, color over the embossed images with Copics, use your colorless blender to wipe off the Copic and push the color around the embossed image like a halo. More ink, distressing , a good spritz of glimmer mist and a few embellishments and you have a stunning result.

A bowl of cherries!

Hi Everyone! Today I'd like to share with you some of the cards I created for my Copic coloring class this month. We had a fun time and everyone did fabulously with the techniques. The first card uses Elizabeth Craft Designs peel off stickers, glitter ritz highligh glitter and copic markers. In this class the emphasis is on the coloring so I keep the cards fairly simple to showcase the images.  I am becoming addicted to coloring on the glitter ritz! It's so much fun, takes so little ink and looks amazing! We carry several varieties of the peel off stickers as well as glitter and trim stickers at Scrapp'n Savvy. I'll be teaching this technique every month in my Copic class so if you are interested stop by and sign up!

Copics used: cherries R35, R37, R59  leaves YG17, YG23 stems E37 bowl B41, B45, Y13, C1

The second card focused on coloring and blending. The adorable image and sentiment are from Lily of the Valley .

Copics used : face E00, E02, E04, R20  Hair Y15, Y17, E33  clothes RV10, RV13, B00, B02 Bear E33, E35, E37 0  shadow C1

The final card focused on learning to use Copics on craft colored cardstock. We stamped the images with memento ink, colored them with Copics and Prisma colored pencils and then added stardust gelly glaze pen for sparkle and to simulate the veins in the petals. I also added a peeled paint distress ink around the edges.

Copics used: BG13, BG32, BG45, RV32, 0  Memento ink: Rose Bud, Cottage ivy, Prisma colored pencils: white, light sage

That's it for the class.. it was a blast. I am so blessed to have a wonderful group of ladies to teach each month. They are all so talented!

I made three cards with this fun paper line and I could have kept on going... the patterns coordinate so well and the colors are so vibrant. The first card is a birthday card I made for my daughter. The cupcake is an Elizabeth Crafts Design outline sticker with highlight Glitter Ritz and colored with Copics. This fun technique was featured in my Copic class last month. The banner was free hand cut and the "Happy" was stamped and punched out and popped up on pop dots.

The second card is one that features a beautiful digi image from Mabelle Ro colored with Copics. Again the Love Struck paper adds an element of fun to the card. The flowers are part of the stickers that come with the line.

In my last card I really wanted to showcase the paper.  I cut 1 inch strips, inked them with Vintage Photo distress ink and rounded the bottoms. I adhered them to the card base. I made a cute little flower out of rolled crepe paper. I simply twisted the paper and then coiled and glued it to a base circle of cardstock. I added a punched flower behind it and cut some leaves out to finish it off. The pearl in the middle was a final touch ( it's really white on the card). The sentiment is from a sheet from the paper line. I really liked how this one turned out.

no stamping Valentine

Hi Everyone!

Double sided paper is the star of this card... I was asked to create a valentine card the young women of my church could mass produce to deliver to a nursing home in our area. I was given some great double sided paper to work with. This is what I came up with- No stamping ( to messy with 15 teenagers) but some new techniques for them. The heart was free hand cut, distressed on the edges and crinkled before it was adhered. I also taught them how to make a rolled rose. They all turned out really nice and the girls enjoyed learning something new. Working with a coordinating double sided paper makes it fun and easy! Hope you like it...

Glitter Ritz heart

Hi Everyone!  I hope you are all doing well out there in blogland.  Today I have a fun card to share with you. This is one of the projects we did in my Copic card class at Scrapp'n Savvy this month. The focus was on learning to use Elizabeth Crafts outline stickers and Glitter Ritz and then color them with Copics. The process is really easy and turns out looking amazing. The highlight glitter has no color but it does have warm or cool tones. Since it is clear you can color over it with your Copic markers- you do have to be careful not to linger too long in one spot as the alcohol in the markers can dissovle the adhesive holding the glitter. It actually takes very little ink to color. You can even blend. 

In this card I wanted to really showcase the heart/glitter so I kept the background simple- white on white with a script embossed on the mat. The scalloped rectangle is a spellbinders die. The red hearts under the ribbon are also from Elizabeth Crafts- they come in silver or gold and you can color right over them as well to customize them.

The outline stickers come in a wide variety. You can find a tutorial on how to use them on the Elizabeth Crafts Design blog. I did another card for my daughter's birthday that I will show you tomorrow...
