Custom Color Glitter Shamrock ECD DT card

Hi Everyone!
I'm so excited! Today my first official post as part of the Elizabeth Craft Design team has posted on the ECD blog. I made this fun Joyfold Shamrock card just in time for St. Patrick's Day with the 4-Leaf Clover die...stop by and check it out and let me know what you think!

Dahlia Tags

I had a great Garden Club class last week where we made Susan's Gardens Dahlia die and put them on the largest tag from Elizabeth Craft Designs Tags die. We colored the middles with Gelatos to give them some depth and definition. The purple and orange are on regular Bazzill cardstock and the dark pink is on Bazzill metallic cardstock- love the shimmer! I really liked the way the tags turned out- they would be so fun to give someone on a plate of goodies or a basket of pampering items, don't you think?

The wonderful ladies in the morning Garden Club- so much fun to be with!





Next month we will be making the Pansey/Violet die..perfect for spring!

Elizabeth Craft Design team!

I'm so excited to share the news that Elizabeth Craft Designs has officially announced the first ever design team and I was invited to be part of it!  This will be my first time participating in a design team and I am thrilled and honored . I have been using and teaching with ECD products in my classes for so long I can't imagine crafting with out them. I'm looking forward to working with and learning from all the other super talented ladies on the design team. It's going to be an amazing creative journey! Hearts a plenty

Hi Everyone!
 I had two great classes last week! Everyone did so well and had a lot of fun. Here are two of the cards we made.

The first one uses Karen Burniston's new Heart Pivot die and Elizabeth Craft Designs Bird die. I thought they would go so well together to make a valentine card. The great thing about Karen's thinlet type pivot die is that they can be placed in any size card- just as long as it has a fold and the die fits you can add the heart pivot. For my card I cut a 12 x 12 sheet of  Bo Bunny Head over Heels paper to 3 - 4 x 12 cards. The double sided paper worked perfectly. I used Bazzill metallic paper for the pink hearts and added a few jewels as accents. The pink and black accessory hearts are included in the pivot die set.

The second card I wanted to share was this purple pattern paper heart card. I love these Maja Designs papers! Its so much fun to mix the patterns since they all go perfectly together. The roses are made from tissue paper circles stacked up and secured with a brad in the middle- then each layer is scrunched up tight around the brad to form the flower. I love making these-they look so delicate and are so economical. The vintage look of this card would be great for almost any occasion, don't you think?

Warm Hug

Hi Everyone!
It's been a while since I last posted. Life has been crazy busy- you know how it is, right? I can't believe its 2014! It's been a great year so far- I'm teaching a lot more at Scrapp'n Savvy and enjoying it very much! I have three classes going on- DistINKtive cards- my technique driven card class, Copic Cards- where we color images together to practice and improve Copic coloring and put them on simple cards ( its all about the coloring in this class) and The Garden Club- where we make one of Sizzix Susan's Garden flower dies a month- I teach you how to use the dies and construct the flowers. So much fun!! I've been teaching non stop since my last post so I have lots of cards to share with you over the next few weeks. Thanks for hanging with me!

The first card I'd like to share with you is like a warm hug- it's a sweater card! I've seen this design floating around the blogsphere for a while and couldn't wait for it to get cool enough here in Texas to justify making it :-) in class.  The key to this one is the embossing folder- you can change up the look of the sweater with whatever embossed design you like. I went traditional with the argyle look for this one. The center strip, collar and pockets where crimped for texture. I added a tiny flower in the pocket for some color and also added tiny stitch lines with a red Spica pen everywhere there should be stitching. The collar is made using your favorite edge punch. Pearl for buttons and you are all done. With the current chill outside I think I need to make some more of these and send them out to my loved ones! Everyone can use a warm hug...

These are the roses we  made in the January Garden Club. Aren't they lovely? The look so realistic and beautiful! You could use them anywhere you would use a silk flower. Perfect for wreaths, centerpieces or decorations on packages and gifts. They take a little time to put together but are well worth it.  Next month we will be making Dhalias.

Inky Mummy

 

 

We made some great cards this month in my class at Scrapp'n Savvy. Today I am sharing the Halloween card we did. I wanted to teach how to create a beautiful background using various colors of ink. For this card, we started with just a white piece of cardstock and ended up with this fun spooky background. We punched a circle out of a sticky note and stuck it on where we wanted the moon to be. Then using four colors of Distress Inks- Scattered Straw, Wild Honey, Crushed Olive and Pine Needles, we sponged around the circle getting darker the further from the moon. next we filled in space with the bats and tree images stamped in black ink and added the sentiment. The adorable mummy is a digi image from Tiddlyinks called Be My Mummy. I absolutely love Christie's images- they are sooo cute! We colored him with Copics- W1, W3, E02, YG11, cut him out and added him over the fence die with pop dots. The little pumpkin treat pail is from another stamp set. Isn't a fun card?

DistINKtive Cards Sept Class Projects

I had a great time teaching this month's DistINKtive Cards class at Scrapp'n Savvy. I have such a great group and enjoy working with them every month! We almost always do 4 different cards and I try to teach them something new every time. Here's what we did:

First up- I attended CHA this year and came across Darcie's stamps and tin pins. I thought they were sooo cute and would be perfect for Copic coloring. The stamps are adorable and most of the main images have coordinating tin pins. I loved the fact that the most intimidating part to color- the face- comes in a tin pin so anyone can create an adorable image! For this card we colored the bear and jam jar with Copic markers (R20, R27, R29, BG15, W1, W3, W5, E33, E35, E37 ).

 

Card 2- Embossed Acetate Stepper Card. We embossed the acetate card base used a Cuttlebug number embossing folder to add texture. Then we made an accordion folded base and attached it in the inside of the acetate- this makes it stand up on its own. We then added the stamped images and other embellishments including the glittery balloons cut from an Elizabeth Craft design die and her amazing ultra fine glitter. It's hard to see the embossing but it turned out really cute!

 

Card 3- Birdcage Card- With this card I wanted to show how to take simple flower punches and make more elaborate flowers. We punched two of each of the white flowers- cut fringes into all the petals of one of each pair, cupped them on a piercing mat and adhered them together offset. A pearl in the middle adds the finishing touch. For the bird- we covered it with washi tape and inked the edges for a different look. The base pattern piece was embossed and sanded to bring out the pattern. Overall I think this was everyone's favorite.

And Finally Card 4- Letterpress- I try to keep the last card quick and simple because of time issues. ( Plus everyone is worn out by the end of class ;-) ) This card is made with the Lifestyles Craft Letter Press. I inked the tree plate in gold ink and printed it on cream colored Bazzill Bling cardstock. It printed beautifully. A simple pleated ribbon with a heart brad and you have an elegant and fast Christmas card.

Pop N Cuts Label Window

I absolutely love Karen Burniston's Pop N Cuts dies! She has done all the thinking and the work for you so all you have to do is cut and decorate. Karen teaches with me at Scrapp'n Savvy and I have taken many of her classes. She is so much fun and I learn a lot every time. I used one of her Journey Collection PNC dies - Label Window - along with the accessory dies -  Edge and Scroll and Butterflies and Labels- to make this card. I love how easy it is to get such a "wow" effect.  I did some piercing following the contours of the label with the sentiment for a little extra touch. I'm Back!

Hey there! Surprise! I'm back! Life has been crazy busy since my last post...but have settled down a bit and I am hoping to be posting often and sharing my creations with you. I have several new cards to share that I have taught in my DistINKtive card class at Scrapp'n Savvy. I loved teaching there!. Everyone is so talented- we have a great team of instructors and a the most amazing owner- Karrie Allen. It's an honor to be part of her team.

I'll be posting my cards a few at a time- forgive the lack of details regarding materials- its been a while and I didn't have everything written down. The great thing about sharing our creations is that the layouts can be redesigned with any variety of pattern papers and color schemes. My first card using a fun technique I learned from Els of Elizabeth Craft Designs when I took her class at CHA this summer ( Yes I went to my first CHA!!). I use her products almost every month in my classes and this was one technique I didn't know. You can find a tutorial here from Els herself. Basically you emboss Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz. Attach it to a double sided adhesive that has been attached to white cardstock. Stick on the Shimmer Sheetz and brayer it down well. Peel it off and the iridescence stays behind in the design of the emboss. Next add microfine glitter and you end up with a beautiful glittery design. I used the negative piece on the bottom of the card. Two great uses from one piece of Shimmer Sheetz.. I used Sizzix Bigz Borders and Hydrangeas die for the flowers and a leaf punch from my stash. I inked one of the flowers in each bud set and alternated them for some dimension. A stamped sentiment and a little bit of tulle tucked in added a finished touch.

 

The second card for today also uses an Elizabeth Craft Design product- outline stickers. In this class I wanted to show how to use then on watercolor paper and color them with Distress Markers and a water brush. I love the effect. It's a nice change from the Copic on Glitter technique we often use with the outline stickers. The background is embossed and inked with Versamark to bring out the design. The edges of the floral panel are distressed and popped up on foam adhesive. I added some washi tape, glitter dots and a few staples as embellishments.

Christmas Cards!

Hi Everyone!
Merry Christmas! I had a wonderful class a few weeks back at Scrapp'n Savvy and we made some great Christmas cards. I'm excited to share them with you. The first one has a cute snowman made of rosettes. I used the Cuttlebug rosette die.

 

 

Next up we did a card using Elizabeth Craft outline stickers, glitter ritz warm highlights and Copic Markers- our favorite technique!

 

 

 

The next one uses a great Santa stamp ( I'll have to get back to you on the manufacturer) and the tattered Holly die cut from soda cans and inked with alcohol inks and Copics on the back side. The poinsettia die is one of Karen Burniston's PNC accessory dies.

 

 

 

And finally I have a Pop-N-Cuts card using the base die, the noel accessory die, a nativity stamp embossed in gold ink and some Elizabeth Craft snowflakes. The paper is from Bazzill. I kept the front simple so the inside could have more "wow" effect. I just love Karen Burniston's Pop-N-Cuts!
